DivorceCare for Kids

DC4K is designed for children ages 5-12

Why have DC4K?
To help children heal from the hurt of divorce. Children will meet other kids who understand how they feel. Children experiencing divorce tell us they feel alone and helpless. Your children may feel scared, sad and confused. They may hide their feelings from you because they are worried about your happiness or because they do not know how to express their feelings appropriately.

What is DC4K?
DC4K is a special group to help your children heal from the pain caused by a separation or divorce. DC4K provides your children with a safe and neutral place to recognize and learn to share their feelings. For 13 weeks your children become involved in a fun, caring group. The weekly session topics help your children learn that God’s love strengthens them and helps them turn their sadness to hope and their anger to joy. Each session is filled with motivating and exciting activities. Games, crafts, role playing, discussion times, journaling and workbooks help your children process the divorce and move forward in their lives.
How old do my kids need to be to come to DC4K?
DC4K is a powerful ministry for kids 5–12 years of age. Siblings are always kept together in the same DC4K group.

What’s the connection between DivorceCare and DC4K?
DivorceCare for Kids is a companion to the adult DivorceCare. The weekly themes for both programs complement each other. Because both you and your children are on the same or similar topics each week, it creates opportunities for meaningful conversations about the issues you face. It is not necessary though for you to attend DivorceCare for your children to benefit from DC4K.

DC4Kids Leadership Team
The leadership team for DivorceCare for Kids consists of people who share a genuine concern about the way divorce is affecting your children now and in the future. The DC4K leaders have been through the divorce of their own parents or have experienced a divorce themselves and are examples of the healing and restoration that can occur. They understand the issues surrounding a divorce and want to help your children. DC4K leaders have an excitement for the DC4K program and have participated in leadership training. Contact the DC4K leadership team at: susan.colllins@fbcmckinney.com or call 469-424-1618 for more information.
