First Steps Preschool Program
First Steps Mon/Wed (9:00 AM - 2:00 PM) preschool program, provides quality early childhood education to children 2 years - Pre-K in a nurturing, Christian atmosphere which creates a positive foundation for the development of all aspects of a child's life. First Steps partners with parents to enhance each child's growth - mentally, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually.

First Learning Preschool Program
First Learning Tues/Thurs (9:00 AM - 2:00 PM) preschool program, provides a nurturing and Christian environment for children 3 months - Pre-K in which every child can grow and develop intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, socially and physically to meet the challenges of elementary school and beyond. First Learning also serves as a support system for parents by providing quality care and educational guidance.

What our preshool programs have to offer -

Maintains a low teacher/child ratio based on the age of children in the room.

Incorporates an academic curriculum and current early childhood practices based on two curriculums:

Success for Life - academic curriculum produced by University of North Texas and based on brain development research;

Wee Learn Weekday Education - early childhood curriculum written by Southern Baptist educators.

Provides a nurturing Christian atmosphere with age-appropriate Bible stories and verses woven into the curriculum.

Employs affirming, caring teachers who emphasize a personal relationship with each child and one-on-one teaching.

Uses computers as a supplement to other learning experiences.

Provides a balance of activity and quiet play, individual, small-group activities to encourage self-directed learning as well as social involvement.

Developmental fitness class offered one day a week.

Spanish offered to children two and older.

Uses music to enhance the curriculum. (First Learning)

State certified.

CPR and First Aid trained teachers in each classroom.

Affiliated with the NAEYC (National Association of the Education of Young Children) and the Velma Schmidt Early Childhood Program of the Universtiy of North Texas.
Both programs follow the the MISD schedule. The waiting list for both First Learning and First Steps begins January 2nd for enrollment in the following school year.
